With only a few months separating us from the summer, we took a look and pulled together a host of opportunities to leap into learning for the summer of 2017.
Project Wayfinder is excited to announce our inaugural Educator Training. During the 4-day workshop we will be introducing administrators and teachers to our set of Tools and Resources. These tools are designed to be used in high school advisory to augment existing curricula or provide a basis for new advisory programs. Our tools and products are inspired from the Polynesian Wayfinding tradition – helping students become wayfinders on their own meaningful journeys through life. This will be a deeply immersive and transformative experience for educators – not just a “how to.” It is open to high school educators including advisory teachers, administrators, school leaders, and counselors. As strong believers in the power of a good collaboration, we are excited to publicize our summer offering with the Good Shepherd Episcopal School in Dallas, Texas. We’ll be running two engagements this summer, a two-day deep dive on June 26-27 and an introductory experience June 28-30. WORKSHOPS FOR STUDENTS
Design the Future
Design the Future is a week long, fully immersive design thinking summer program for rising 10th, 11th and 12th graders in which students work to design solutions to real problems faced by individuals with physical disabilities. At the end of the one week program, each student group will present its final design and high resolution prototype during a media attended presentation. Throughout the program created by DC Design and held in collaboration with the d.school’s K12 Lab Network, students will receive design and manufacturing mentorship from Stanford educated designers and engineers. Students should expect to walk away from the course with an understanding of how they might tangibly improve the world around them having just contributed directly to the improvement of the lives of others.
